about page_2.jpg
Hi! This is Smitha Tumuluru. I’m a Bangalore-based portrait and documentary photographer, trained from New York Institute of Photography. I have had the opportunity to live in Singapore for six years, enjoying its beauty and bustle. A large part of my images are inspired from there. I’m a passionate photographer documenting the everyday around me. I have also had the privilege to travel to other countries, adding to my image collection. Some of these images have been exhibited internationally in Kuala Lumpur & New York. I share these with you through this website.

Fine art prints are classic, lasting, and can take your breath away. I’m eager for you to find something that catches your eye, something that can adorn a wall in your home or something that works as a gift for an occasion.

I hope you enjoy the images in my collections!

  • What are Fine Art Prints?
Fine Art Prints or archival prints are professional photographs printed on very high quality media using non-toxic pigment inks. Unlike regular photo prints or commercial prints, the canvas or paper used in fine art printing are largely made of natural material like cellulose and cotton. These are acid-free media of archival quality, meaning these papers can easily last many decades – even more than a century! The paper is thicker and stronger than normal photo paper. Images are printed using special pigment inks which are UV-resistant, making the colours fade-resistant and last several decades. The prints we offer through our website are made on premium fine art paper or canvas from Hanhemuhle, a world-renowned producer of fine art media - 1. Photo Rag Bright White Paper (smooth, 310gsm paper, made up of 100% cotton). 2. Daguerre Canvas (textured, 400gsm, made of poly-cotton). The images are printed using a high-end printer that uses multiple colour pigments covering a wide colour gamut. The result is a vibrant and beautiful looking piece that feels and looks great. We also offer prints on basic archival paper (210 gsm) for some of the images.
  • How to purchase a print?
We have currently disabled "Add to Cart" option. If you like a particular image (or images), please add to the wishlist and write to us at smitha.tumuluru@gmail.com for your preferred size and medium, and to get corresponding price.
  • What services do you provide?
Happy to provide the following services at no additional cost - Help you shortlist suitable images based on the theme of your room or interiors. Help you visualize shortlisted artworks in your room. You can provide an image of your wall, using which I can send images showing how the artwork would look on it. Help you visualize shortlisted images as a collage in your room. Customize prints based on paper size and type.
  • Are the prints matte or glossy?
The paper and canvas prints that we offer have a matte finish. Glossy prints reflect light and produce glare, which tends to distract a viewer. It is also a matter of personal preference when it comes to finish. Lustre or pearl finish is an in-between choice. While this finish is not part of our standard offering, if you are keen to opt for it, we will be able to customize, charges for which need to be worked out based on image size and paper choice.
  • Are prints available in larger or smaller sizes?
Yes. You can opt for prints in smaller or larger size other than what is offered on the website. We will confirm whether for a particular image, custom print size is possible on not. If possible, difference in cost will be applicable. For certain sizes, there maybe wastage of paper while printing. Cost in such cases may be marginally higher.
  • Do you customize prints?
Yes. If you would like to print a size different from choices available in the menu, or would like to try a different paper like the lustre paper or any other textured paper; or would like to pick a set of images for a gallery wall, we would be happy to customize. A difference in cost as per the choice of paper and size is applicable. Such customization and payment is outside the scope of this website and will be handled separately.
  • Are there any additional customization charges?
No. There are no extra customization charges if you opt for customization based on paper size or type.
  • Do you frame the prints?
No. The products are shipped and delivered as rolled prints. I would be happy to recommend best framers if you are in Bangalore. If you are keen to get a framed print, there will be additional framing charges. Canvas prints come with an additional 2-inch border that helps to wrap the print around a wooden frame.
  • How long will it take for prints to reach me?
India deliveries will reach you in 7-10 working days from the date of purchase. International deliveries will take 10-15 working days for the same. For local pickup, orders will be ready in 3-5 working days. Watch out for our confirmation email when prints are ready to be shipped. Covid lockdowns and restrictions may affect print and delivery services.
  • Do you do international shipping?
Yes. However shipping charges will be additional. Alternatively we will be able to deliver it to any friend or family member within India, likely to travel to your location.
  • Why does the print look different from my monitor?
Every monitor displays colours differently. Over time, monitors may also develop a colour “tint” not easily noticed by the eye. Some monitors may have a “warm” look, while others may have a “cool” look, thus changing the way a lay user perceives colours while viewing different screens. Another factor to consider is the brightness of the monitor. While monitors are backlit, prints reflect light that fall on them. There will be a difference between the brightness of a print and the brightness of a monitor. Professional photographers calibrate their monitors to display the actual colours captured by the camera. Print professionals also calibrate both their monitors and printers, to ensure that the true colours in digital images are consistently and accurately reproduced on print. Fine Art Prints - which combine high quality paper and pigment inks – can reproduce many more colours than regular photo prints.
  • I just bought a print, but I want to replace it with a different image.
We request you to place such change requests within 24 hours from the time of purchase, to ensure that prints are not made already. Different images have different prices. Any changes to the order after the purchase will be carried out on a per-case basis. Any additional costs incurred due to different pricing or size or material will have to be paid accordingly. These will be handled on a per-case basis.
  • I placed an order for a print, but I want to cancel. What can I do?
We want our customers to feel happy about the products they purchase. However under certain conditions, we offer cancellation and refund options. You will have to email to us and place a request, quoting the order number. We will consider cancellations and full refunds if done within 24 hours of purchase. Any request for cancellation placed after 24 hours, will be handled on a case-to-case basis. Full refund is applicable only if the product has not been printed. If the product has been printed, we will not be able to consider a refund.
  • Will you provide a soft copy of the image?
No. We will not provide a soft copy of the image.
  • How to care for prints?
Typically prints that are shipped are delivered as rolls inside a sturdy cylinder. There is a ¼ inch border to help you hold the image. We urge you to be very careful while taking the print out of the box or while opening it. Prints need to be handled with care, as finger print smudges cannot be removed. Dust gently with a microfibre static duster whenever needed. Frame them, put them on the wall and enjoy!

I regularly work on documentary stories, which are published on PARI (People’s Archive of Rural India). These stories revolve around the lives of the Irular communities I have met over the years. I also collaborate with NGOs and social enterprises on various photography projects. At other times, I offer studio portraits for families.

I would love to hear from you. If you have any queries or would like to explore more options,
please feel free to contact me.
If you reside in Bangalore, you are welcome to visit my home studio to take a look at some of the prints.
